    1. Basis of preparation                                                   
                                                                              
    The unaudited consolidated results of the Company and its                 
    subsidiaries (the "Group") have been prepared in accordance               
    with accounting principles generally accepted in Hong Kong                
    and the applicable disclosure requirements of the Growth                  
    Enterprise Market Listing Rules. They have also been prepared             
    under the historical cost convention, as modified for the                 
    revaluation of certain fixed assets and financial                         
    instruments.                                                              
                                                                              
    The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants has               
    issued a number of new and revised Hong Kong Financial                    
    Reporting Standards ("HKFRS") and Hong Kong Accounting                    
    Standards ("HKAS") herein collectively referred to as HKFRSs              
    which are generally effective for accounting periods beginning            
    on or after 1 January 2005.
