    The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants has issued a      
    number of new and revised Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards and Hong
    Kong Accounting Standards ("new HKFRS") which are effective for accounting
    periods beginning on or after January 1, 2005. The Group has not made     
    early adoption of these new HKFRS in the financial statements for the year
    ended December 31, 2004. The Group considers that the new HKFRS do not    
    have a material impact on the results of the Group.                       
                                                                              
    (2)     Loss per share                                                    
                                                                              
    The calculation of loss per share is based on the loss attributable to    
    shareholders of HK$40,915,000 (2003 : HK$51,400,000), divided by the      
    weighted average number of ordinary shares outstanding during the year of 
    1,895,451,000 shares (2003 : 1,310,371,148 shares).                       
                                                                              
    No diluted loss per share is presented as the effect of the assumed       
    conversion of the potential ordinary shares outstanding is anti-dilutive.
