    The weighted average number of ordinary shares used in the calculation of 
    diluted earnings per share is calculated based on the weighted average of 
    19,634,723,456 (period ended 31 December 2003: 15,296,323,059) ordinary   
    shares in issue during the year/period plus the weighted average of 282,  
    640,310 (period ended 31 December 2003: 2,625,481,088) ordinary shares    
    deemed to be issued at no consideration as if all the Company's           
    convertible notes had been converted and share options had been exercised.
