    Group's profit attributable to shareholders of HK$775,244,000 (2003: HK$

    The basic earnings per share is based on the weighted average number of   
    4,742,266,717 shares (2003: 4,809,148,034 shares) in issue during the     
    year.                                                                     
    The diluted earnings per share is based on 4,798,347,798 shares (2003:    
    4,839,411,192 shares) which is the weighted average number of shares in   
    issue during the year plus the weighted average number of 56,081,081      
    shares (2003: 30,263,158 shares) which would be issued at no consideration
    on the exercise of all dilutive options.
