    The Stock Exchange has received a message from Mexan Limited which is     
    reproduced as follows:-                                                   
                                                                              
    "This statement is made at the request of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong 
    Limited.                                                                  
                                                                              
    The board of directors of MEXAN LIMITED (the "Board") have noted the      
    increase in the price and the trading volume of the shares of MEXAN       
    LIMITED (the "Company") today and wish to state that, save as disclosed in
    the Company's announcement dated 19 April 2005 relating to the dividend   
    for the year ending 31 March 2006, the Company is not aware of any reasons
    for such increase and also confirm that there are no negotiations or      
    agreements relating to intended acquisitions or realisations which are    
    discloseable under rule 13.23, neither is the Board aware of any matter   
    discloseable under the general obligation imposed by rule 13.09, which is 
    or may be of a price-sensitive nature.

    As at the date of this statement, the Board comprises seven directors, of 
    which three are executive directors, namely Mr. Lau Kan Shan, Mr. Tse On  
    Kin and Ms. Ching Yung , one non-executive director, namely Mr. Leung     
    Heung Ying and three are independent non-executive directors, namely Mr.
