    3. (LOSS) EARNINGS PER SHARE                                              
                                                                              
    The calculation of the basic (loss) earnings per share is based on        
    the net loss for the year of RMB1,806,000 (2003: profit of                
    RMB5,949,000) and 2,898,086,091 (2003: 2,898,086,091) shares              
    in issue during the year.                                                 
                                                                              
    No diluted (loss) earnings per share has been presented in 2004 and       
    2003 because the exercise price of the Company's options was higher than  
    the average market price of the Company's shares for both years.
