    The Stock Exchange has received a message from Shanghai Allied Cement     
    Limited which is reproduced as follows:-                                  
                                                                              
    "In order to alleviate any difficulties arising from the existence of odd 
    lots of New Shares as a result of the Capital Reorganization, Sun Hung Kai
    Investment Services Limited of Level 12, One Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, 
    Central, Hong Kong, has agreed to stand in the market to provide matching 
    services for the odd lots of New Shares on a best effort basis, during the
    period commencing 20th December, 2002 and ending on 29th January, 2003,   
    both dates inclusive. Shareholders who wish to take advantage of this     
    matching facility either to dispose of their odd lots of New Shares or top
    up to board lots of 2,000 New Shares are asked to contact Ms Connie Cheung
    (Tel: 2822 5075) of Sun Hung Kai Investment Services Limited. Holders of  
    odd lots of the New Shares should note that match up of the sale and      
    purchase of odd lots of the New Shares is not guaranteed."
