Sudden rally: Index closed 21,384.490 (+361.56)

After the regular meeting, the Federal Reserve announced an unchange to the interest rate, and and reiterated that the rates would stay low for a long time. On the other side of the world, S&P maintained the credit rating of Greece. DJIA finished at 10,685 (+43). The AP markets opened high this morning.

This morning the March futurs opened at 21,240 (+223), bringing the stock market to open at 21,184 (+161). The market then hovered at the 21,200 level till noon then suddenly pulled up. The morning session finished at 21,370 (+355). Half day turnover was 39.0 bil HK$.

In the afternoon there was little change to the market. HSI finished at 21,384 (+361). Total turnover of the day increased sharply o 65.8 bil HK$.
