A SHORTCUT METHOD - You only need to spend 15 minutes a day to read our report:

1. Portfolio - Enter your portfolio and review it for action. If the buy/sell limits you set is reached, you will be alerted. This is the simplest and minimum.

2. Stock Alert - Watch the unusual movements of stocks for the day. Get their charts and also see the top 10 gainers/losers. Revise your portfolio as necessary.

3. If you really want to do research then you can browse all the other areas, news highlight, indices, company news.

Members can edit a portfolio by entering the date and price certain stock issues are bought. When you view the portfolio next time, the current price will be used to calculate your gains. This portfolio is now stored in your computer as a cookie. If you also use a second computer (e.g. laptop), you need to put another copy in it, otherwise it will not show.

This sections contain important information which you can use to track specific companies in their market performance. Our data report contains more than just hi/lo/close/volume information. You can tell a lot about the near term trend from the information. The following is an explanation on how to read our reports intelligently.

Hong Kong market opens at 10 am and closes at 3:45 pm (HKT). After that the market will still be opened for trading for another 5 minutes at the closing price. From the Ask and Bid Price, one can tell the trend of the stock movement. (All prices in HK dollars, US$1 ~= HK$7.73)

L_Bid : Last Bid price (from buyer)
L_Ask : Last Ask price (from seller)
BQ : Bid queue (Number of brokers waiting to buy at the L_Bid price).
AQ : Ask queue (Number of brokers waiting to sell at the L_ask price).

• If Close Price = L_Bid seller anxious
• If Close Price = L_Ask buyer anxious
• If L_Ask >> L_Bid and BQ >> AQ, rise likely next day, and vice versa.

(Exception for BQ/AQ indication: there could be one BIG buyer and many small sellers).
In the Stock Alert, the last two queue entries for each stock at closing are provided, i.e. the primary ask, secondary ask, and primary bid, secondary bid. Say if the last bid price for HKBS is 112 and last ask price is 112.5. A display of 12 11 | 2 3 means:

        
12 investors would like to buy quoting a price of 112   
11 investors would like to buy quoting a price of 111.5                 
(1 price position lower)

         2 investors would like to sell quoting a price of 112.5
         3 investors would like to sell quoting a price of 113
                        (1 price position higher)

The primary and secondary numbers are combined in the data reports to save space due to the column width limitation.

This is a parameter to estimate the percentage fluctuation of price within the day. A high fluctuation % is good for day traders to have quick turnover.

This is another way to look at turnover. The conventional way using dollars turnover can vary with the price per share and obscure the second liners when compared to blue chips. The %vol ratio is a normalized number to see the actual proportion of shares turnover. In general, for blue chips, .2% per day is considered very active, but for 2nd and 3rd liners, 1% is a triggering value.

You can enter the company code to find news about certain companies. If you don't know the code, you can enter a partial name to search for the code. A list of codes is also available on the mainpage.

Try to limit your time period of the search or you may be waiting for a long time to get all the news.

If you know the news occurred on certain dates, just click on the date to view all the news items and click on the specific item of your choice.

The Zipped data are available to full members or subscribers to only zipped data. The data when unzipped are in ascii format, presented as column and comma delimited format, and importable to databases of your choice. The file named after the date and the order of the data columns are:
