INDIAN AND MAURITIAN HAKKA
Having read the articles on this subject, I cannot help to think that
the entire Hakka language and culture are heading towards the same
direction as the Mauritian Hakka, It is a matter of time.
It is the PRE-EMINENCE OF MANDARIN foster by Hakka leaders of Singapore,
Taiwan and China that will bring the end of the sub-ethnic Han,Hakka.
We have to understand these leaders, their priority is unity and peace
among the sub-ethnic Hans and non-Hans, we cannot go back, therefore let
us look to the future, let us take the sentence from the Chinese
National Antelm. Let us BUILT OUR NEW GREAT WALL thru HAKKAOLOGY by
establishing a fund to preserve our heritage.
I am Hakka from Mauritius, I spent 5-years in Chinese school learning
Hakka Han Language,I have to change to English education for economic
reasons, I am a communications engineer, i met my Dutch wife in U.K,
I have Engish Canadian, Latvian Canadian, Cantonese Canadian as brothers
in law, nieces married to Briton and Maroccan.
Ideally,It would have been better to marry into Hakka community, feeling
and love cannot be forced on anyone, you understand what I mean.
We speak of Indian Hakka, my father came from Hakka community in
Calcutta
Do anyone of you knows that in the past the Hakka community has niche
in tanning and leather business which to the indians it is classified as
untouchable caste. The Hakka community was left in peace to prosper,no
competition from indians,it is left in isolation, therefore this
community can keep its language and culture until the time catches with
it.
