The Persian contribution to China



This might be off topic, but I think it is a part of history that we should 
acknowledge.  During the Tang, such relations did flourish.  It is said that 
some of the imperial empresses and consorts wore their headdress and fashion 
based on the Sassanian and Sogdian manner.  They were good at equestrian 
sports and polo.  This gives a suggestion that intermarriage among the 
elites of both races perhaps did occur.  Much of Chinese classical and opera 
music and their instruments derived from the West (i.e. Iran and Central
