There are websites with bus and plane schedules (yes, airplanes can go to Meixian directly now).  I am not sure if Hokkien dialect would be understood in Meixian area. Perhaps others friends inthe forum can help you on this.  We have some Fujian Hakkas in the forum. I am posting your email to the forum.  Please check answers there.

I would like to visit my sick relative in Meixian next week and I have never been to china before.  What is the best way to get there.  If I were to get to HongKong and board a train to Shenzen, Is there taxi easily available.  My relative is actually in Zhoulin hospital which is about 30 minutes away from Meixian.  Pls. help.  May I know is it safe and I can only speak malaysian hokkien, no other dialects.  How else can I communicate.
