kids speaking Hakka

Dear Mr. Liu Zinfad,
I just read your comment about kids learning their mother tongue.
Congratulations for teaching your kids your Hakka dialect. Very often,
parents neglect to teach their kids their mother tongue. My dad was fluent
in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. My mom speaks Hakka and English. I
speak English, Spanish and French. I wasn't lucky enough to have the
advantage of knowing my parents' first language, growing up in an English
speaking country in the Caribbean, English came first. A few people I have
met, have learnt the Hakka and Cantonese dialects of their parents, and I'm
sure they will teach their kids. Some parents don't know how useful
languages are, but some do.
Henrietta Akit.
