CHINA Hakka Culture  Festival  will  be  held  on
 October 27£­ 28  in  Longgang,   Shenzhen.   The
 activity is  co ª² sponsored  by  the  Guangdong
  Cultural  and  Arts   Association,     Shenzhen
 Municipal Government, Shenzhen  TV  Station  and
 the Longgang District Government. 
   Hakka folk songs competition, TV  serials  and
 art exhibitions on Hakka culture will be  shown.
  Business  co ª² operational  meetings   between
 domestic and overseas Hakka people will also  be
 held. Over  60  million  Hakka  people  are  now
 residing in over 30 countries in the world.
    The  Hakka  people  are  descendants  of  the
 ancient Chinese who  moved  from  central  China
  about  1, 000  years  ago  to  evade  wars  and
 prosecutions. 
    In the Longgang District of Shenzhen,   two £­
third of residents are Hakka.
