hakka

I am interested in the Hakka culture in modern Taiwan for a scientific
article I am writing. I understand Hakka are a unique ehtnic group of Han
Chinese originallly from around the Yellow River, and one of the earliest Han
settlers in China. How are they different culturally from people in Taiwan
called Taiwanese?
Does the term "Taiwanese" today include descendants those Formosans who
were there before WWII as well as Chinese who entered when China became
Communist. Are these two groups culturally or racially different as well? Why
are they differentiated from Hakka in cultural summaries?
