Hakka position
Dear Zinfad,
I think we have enough discussion on the topic of definition of Hakka and
Hakka dialect. My conclusion of the stand we should assume includes the
following:
1. Hakka culture is an important subset of Chinese culture that is worth
preserving.
2. Hakka culture does not represent all Chinese culture nor the oldest, nor
the most dominant culture.
3. Hakka should maintain this heritage and increase the awareness of all
Hakka and Chinese who identify with the culture, whether the are capable of
the language or not. although the capability is highly encouraged.
4. Hakka should not assume a chauvinistic attitude towards other subcultures
of Greater China.
5. Hakka should work towards a solidarity including other Chinese
subcultures to enrich our culture as summation.
>From your posts, I believe you agree on the above. Let us move on.
