Yue and Cantonese

I think settlement of  Guangdong went way back in Qin and Han dynasty.
The original Yue people were either integrated with people from central
China or driven to Guangxi and Vietnam. There were of course many Yue
tribes ("Hundred Yue"), including Min Yue. There were other immigrants
from the north during Yuan dynasty, but at that time, Guangdong was
already quite populated.

I feel that Hakka and Bunti (Cantonese) can coexist and be friendly.
Cantonese are not necessarily antagonistic to Hakkas.
