Some comments...

- The idea of a Hakka province. There is always no
harm trying. If Ye Jianying and his son were still
governors of Guangdong Province, they probably agree
to the idea as both are Meixian Hakkas. Deng Xiaoping
will probably agree to it too as his ancestors were
Guangdong Hakkas.

- Cantonese speakers are known for being stubborn
speakers ie. refusing to speak other languages other
than Cantonese. However, Cantonese suffer the same
fate as Hakka where Cantonese is the minority. It is
being spoken by the older generation only and it is
treated as old-fashioned and useless. 

- Cantonese is powerful also partly of the movies and
tv serials made popular in HK. But HK is now part of
China and Hongkongers are themselves learning
Mandarin. The failure to learn Mandarin will see HK
deteriorate with China progressing every day. Eg.
Canto pop is now only popular in HK. The Canto singers
have switched to singing Mandarin songs for the bigger
Chinese market, ie China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia,
etc.
