A Hakka Nursery Rhyme

This Hakka nursery rhyme appears in the No.37 issue of the 
"Nanyang Khek Community Guild Bulletin, 20 Peck Deah Street,
Singapore 079312  Tel: 2210605"

Its author is Tu Xiang Sheng (涂 祥 生) who uses this nursery to describe
the 18 scholars who were, quring the Qing Dynasty (1644AD to 1911AD),
born and grew up in Qing Keng village (青坑村), Kan (坎) city in Yong
Ding county (永定縣) of Fujian province (福建省).  

During the reign of Emperor Qian Long (乾隆 reign 1736AD to 1795AD), in
a certain examination, there were 18 young men from Qing Keng village
passed the Xiu Cai (秀才) examination. Emperor Qian Long praised the
mountain near Qing Keng the first mountain (第一山).

鮮  葉  子,     葉  葉  飛﹐    飛  過  河﹐    飛  過  溪﹐

上  東  安﹐  東  華  山﹐    十  八  角﹐    九   個  彎﹐

花  一  路﹐   風  滿  樹﹐   竹  滿  山﹐    泉  水  甘﹐

到  山  頭﹐   看 得  遠﹐    聖  旨  封﹐    第  一  山﹐

石  棋  盤﹐   仙  人  摸﹐   石  交  椅﹐    仙  人  坐﹐

石  鯉  魚﹐   塔  子  上﹐    山  風  吹﹐    石   鼓  響﹐

庵  堂  背﹐    一  線  天﹐    庵  堂  里﹐    有  神  仙﹐

庵  里  講  麼  人  (誰) ?      青  坑  童  子  十  八  人﹐

庵  內  讀  書  去  考  試﹐  個  個  秀  才  得  高  升﹐

傳  揚  名  山  風  水  好﹐  "獨 有  青  坑" 傳 到 今。
