Hakka not majority in Indonesia

Dear Mr. Chung,

According to the data by Wang Dong, Prof. of Hakkaology of Shanghai Huadong
Univeristy, on page 207 of his book "Kejiaxue Daolun" [Inroduction to
hakkaology] (Shanghai Reimin Press, 1995, 271 pages), the population of
Hakka is 1.2 Million among 6 Million of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. They
cannot be the majority with this figure.

According to my informants from Indonesia, they also agree that there are
more Hokkiens than Hakka there. Besides, there are other groups like
Cantonese or Hainan, but in smaller number. Therefore, many Hakka can speak
Hokkien but not vice versa.
