Hakka Second Largest in Indonesia
Hei, I think Mr Chung has mistaken here.
The largest Chinese ethnic in Indonesia is Hokkianese,
Hakka is only the second largest.
The last cencus took place in Dutch colonial era (1930).
That is the only data we have up to know because
when Indonesia government held the next cencus,
they did'nt make any different categories for Chinese ethnic.
All Chinese is considered to be WNI Keturunan, a term
that used for referring Chinese descendants - no matter
they are Hakka or Hokkian. But I think the population share
keeps the same.
I'm sorry I could not show you the 1930 cencus data right now.
Someday I will try to send it to this forum.
BTW Hakka is very dominant in West Kalimantan (Pontianak).
