Hello Tracy,

Hong Xuan Jiao (¬x«Å¼b), the younger sister of Hong Xiu Quan (¬x¨q¥þ),
commanded the Taiping women regiments. Hong Xuan Jiao was married 
to Xiao Chao Gui (¿½´Â¶Q) one of the generals of the Taiping armed
forces. Xiao Chao Gui was killed by the Manchu soldiers in an ambush.
Hong Xuan Qiao was very sad and she wanted to revenge on her husband's
death. 

In chapter 16 of the book "Hong Xiu Quan Tan Yi  ¬x¨q¥þºt¸q" 
it describes how Hong Xuan Qiao led her female regiment to battle 
against the Manchu troops.
