From the book "The Stubborn Hakka People"

Recently, I revisited my Hakka hometown and bought a few books, all in
Chinese, about the Hakka People. I hope some day someone will
translate these books into English for the English educated Hakkas
to read. One of them is called "The Stubborn Hakka People 硬頸客家人"
which is written by a Japanese! whose name, in Pinyin, is Gao Mu Gui Zang-
高木桂藏 I don't know his English name.

According to him the Hakka and Japanese pronounciations of the figures
of 1 2 3 4 are similar. Hope our Hakka friends who know Japanese will
agree with him as I don't know Japanese.

According to him there are estimated forty five million Hakka People
in the world, more than all the Koreans in the globe. The author also
gives a brief biography of the most 14 famous Hakka.
He also quotes many Hakka proverbs.
I quote five of them as the examples.

(1) Lang Duo Chi Ren 狼多吃人
        Ren Duo Chi Lang 人多吃狼

(2) Shan Zhong Wu Fu 山中無虎
        Quan Cheng Da Wang 犬稱大王

(3) Guan Da Mian Duo 官大面多
         Shu Da Feng Qiang 樹大風強

(4) Ren Qiong Zhi Duan 人窮志短
         Ma Shou Mao Chang 馬瘦毛多

(5) Ren Huo Yi Shi 人活一世
        Cao Huo Yi Qiu 草活一秋

It is a very interesting Hakka book
