heard anything???

In recent history of last 200 years or so, many Christian missionary
groups came to China. The German missonaries found a foothold among the
Hakkas. Many hospitals/organizations set up by German used Hakkas. Small
but significant number of Hakkas at one time did embrace Christianity.

The Tai Peng Tian Kuo rebellion led by Hung Xiu Chuan in the early stage
had Christianity slogan and influence in it. That was the main reason
Chen Kuo Fan decided to throw his weight behind the ManChu government
fearful that Tai Peng Tian Kuo would wipe out Confucianism. Many parts
of the "constitution" or laws set up by Tai Peng Tian Kuo had
Christian-Judea laws' flavour in it.

The German's christian influence is still evidenced in WuHua, MeiZhou
area. I visited an old folk home that was set up by German missionaries
in MeiZhou city. I did not have time to visit WuHua, just by hearding
from my friends in MeiZhou that the churches in Wu Hua are doing well.

Other missionary groups probably was also as successful if not more with
other ethnic group. I will not claim Hakkas to be among the first
converts in recent history.
