Longalong
Dear Lissa,
I have met some Chinese from the Philippines who had surnames 3 or more
syllables long. What I found out is that the Immigration officials in
countries like the Philippines (perhaps Thailand as well) have mistaken
the entire name of a Chinese immigrant for their surname therefore all
their children had inherit the "new" surname as their last name.
My guess is that "A Long" is the name of your great-, great-, etc.
grandfather and "Long" is his surname.
