Re: 'Kheks' for Hakka's in M'sia

Dear Sir:

I believe the term "Khek" is Hakka in Hokkian which is why you do not
find them widely use in K.L. and other states where the prevalent
language is Cantonese. Whereas in Malacca, Penang and S'pore they are
being use. If I am correct the Hakkas Association in S'pore is called
the Khek Association founded by Au Boon Haw (Tiger Balm) a Hokkian
Hak. Got a book about this when I visited S'pore last year.

BTW, I'm so glad this forum is up and running again. Couldn't access it
for a while and thought it was closed. Ngai How Fon Hi, Ngai Heh Hak
