The Navajos, like all Native Americans, were considered "property" of the
USA government and not citizens until the 1960's! Over and over again
Native Americans were driven off their land, given poor land and driven off
even that land as soon as someone discovered something valueable on that
land. This is happening even today as uranium was discovered on Navajo land
and the Navajos are being driven off their land yet again.
