hakka marriage custom

Dear Jonathan:

I remember you post once few week ago about the old Hakka custom of
marriage ceremony in the night time. In Taiwan, we ceretainly do'nt have
such customs.

Yesterday I read the book " Deep Investigation of the origin of Hakka" by
Prof. Fong Hok-ka (of Ka-ying University, Moi-yen). There is one paragraph
about the ceremony of women's second marriage occuring in the night time.
( page 321 of the Taiwan edition of that book, published in 1996 房 學
嘉﹕客 家 源 流 探 奧)。This book is very interesting and scholarly
written. I bought it from Hakka Magazine in Taiwan.

However, I did not find similar discussion in other book. There is an
interesting book about Hakka custom written by Mr. Chong Chu-ki( 張 祖 基
) from Moi-yen. Mr. Chong wrote this book in early 20th century with
Hakka Language (in Honsii). It is not difficult to read at all.

I hope this information is useful to you

Sincerely yours,
 Albert Chu
