Self deceiving

     Self deceiving

     One day, a burglar broke into a house which belonged to a Fan 
family who were away for holiday. The burglar had a big bag with 
him. While he was searching through the house looking for valuable 
aticles to put into his bag he came across a big bell which was 
very beautiful. He believed that the bell must worth a lot of money.
Intending to carry it home he tried to put it into his bag, but it 
was too big and very heavy. He did not know what to do with it.
 
   He had been in the house for sometime thinking about how to take 
home the valuable big bell. Finally he had an idea. He went around 
the house looking for a hammer and found one in the kitchen. He 
thought since he could not put the bell into his bag he could break 
it into  pieces and put them into the bag. 

   He began to smash the bell into pieces. Dong, dong, dong that was 
how the bell sounded. It was very loud and the sound pierced his ear 
drums and he could not stand it. He quickly covered his ears with his
hands and he could not hear the sound of the bell. At last he thought 
he knew how to stop the bell from sounding.

  Every time, as soon as he smash the bell he quickly covered his 
ears with his hands. He heard nothing. Dong, dong, and dong he 
continued smashing the bell and covering his ears with his hands 
as quickly as he could. 

   He had been wrecking the bell for sometime. A man walked by passed
the house and heard the crackly sound. Being curious the man went to 
the window and had a peep inside the house to see what was happening. 
He saw the burglar smashing the bell and covering his ears with his
hands. The man, who did not know the smasher was a burglar, asked
him the reason behind his actions. The burglar was surprised to see
the man watching him through the window. So he told the man that 
he could not understand why the bell produced no sound when he 
smashed it. The man thought the burglar was queer. 
 
  Seeing the man still standing near the window puzzling, the burglar 
went off with an empty bag. The man was amazed.

"Yan3 Er3 Dao4 Ling2". or Self deceiving.
