New Book: A New Theory on the Origin of Hakka

Dear Hakka and Non-Hakka Firends,

I have just got a new book written by Dr. Chen Zhiping, Dept Head and
Professor of the Xiamen University. The name of the book is "A New Theory on
the Origin of Hakka" (Kejia Yuanliu Xinlun), which is a very useful book for
the understanding the origin and differences between Hakka and Non-Hakka.

The author used a lot of historical material to support his points. As the
book is written in Chinese, I can translate the heading of the eight
chapters for your reference:

1. On "Kejia Yuanliu kao" (An investingation of the origin of Hakka) by Luo
Xianglin
2. No differences between the "Zhongyuan judi" (Central Plain living areas)
of Hakka and Non-Hakka
3. Migration route of Hakka and Non-Hakka are basically the same
4. Hakka and Non-Hakka brancehd out from the same ancestors during southward
migration
5. Hakka branched out from Non-Hakka
6. Non-Hakka branched out from Hakka
7. The interlocking migration of Hakka and Non-Hakkas
8. Conclusion and questions to be solved

Apendix 1-3 are articles related to the topic by other authors.

The book has 196 pages and costs Reminbi Y15 (Ca. US $2), but it is
difficult to perchase in Hong Kong. Only 1000 copies were printed. It is
advisible to ask from Prof Chen directly (write address in Chinese if
possible, Chen, er-dong Chen, is a very common name in South China, Zhi is
the first syllable for support, zhi1chi2, Ping is the same as Deng
Xiaoping). I can try to translate the conclusion for you all if you like
(but not immediately, I must find some time to do so).

Yours sincerely,

Liu Zinfad.
