First you need to know that there are many kinds of
Cantonese as there are many kinds of Hakka, same goes for
other Guangdong, Fukien people. They are
not a homogeneous and frozen entity in biological terms. I believe 
some Cantonese and some Hakka have common ancestors in the north 
and others in the south. 

My classicifcation.

Y Catonese--Yet descended.
N Catonese--Northern descended
O Hakka--Original Hakka(from north)
S Hakka--She Hakka
Y Hoklo--Yet Hoklo
N Hoklo--Northern descended Hoklo(don't know how many)

this is  a biological classification.

Dr Sun is a NCantonese.
