Re: Last Entries - we still need your active input !
Dear Dixie,
I deeply regret to read that my narrow viewpoint on copyright has cause you
this grief. I hope that you do not withdraw because of my intervention and
demonstrate to us that as a Hakka, you have the fortitude to perservere and
make an active role for yourself in increasing Hakka awareness.
The information which exists on the net is dispersed, and you have brought
all these diverse pieces of information together. However, you must also
quote the source from whence they came, and that was the narrowness of my
convictions.
This situation need not have arisen and could have easily been solved if
there was mention of the original author.
As we know the material on the net is diverse and not always easily
accessed. We have already had a compilation of sites from previous
contributors, but the information is often repeated and so, visitors to
these sites will probably just glance at the title and move on.
There has been calls for FAQ's on Hakka topics, but there really is no
assessment of Hakka sites and what can be found on them, other than
visiting. Same topics are often repeated everywhere, the Origin of the
Hakka features on nearly every Hakka page for instance. But each will have
their strengths and weakenesses, and their contents will no doubt feature
mostly about the background of the Hakka of that particular person. Subject
matter can be collated as URLS for comparisons and may help others visit
these sites too. From the information gathered, it would be nice to see
your ideas surrounding the topics. In this way you contribute rather than
just shuffling data back and forth. Any person can do both, but when you
put your personal insights into the material as commentary or observation,
it becomes invaluable rather than more net traffic.
Please, do not just simply go away but make active comments and observation
on material that is out there.
Again, I regret having to accuse, but the integrity of the information
source is just as important for those who wish to criticise the material,
so that the authors can explain themselves, as the information itself.
I have sent a copy of this to the Forum, and hope you do not withdraw from
the Hakka issues at large.
Dylan.
