Hakka: Chiu Clan Research

I am starting to research my wife's family history.  I can't read chinese, so
it is not easy for me.  A cousin of hers told me that her family history was
of the Hakka group.  Her surname is CHIU, but is pronounced as HEW in Hakka.
 Her father came from Moisien (or Maysien) for the Guangdong area in a
district called (or that sounds like (yau-sung).  Her father (Chiu Fun Kung
or Chui Koon) now lives in California after living in Thailand since 1949.
 He brother (Chui Fu Hai) now lived in Taiwan.  Can someone help me find out
more information on the ancestors and desendants of this Chui family.  Matt
