Hello. My name is Richard Morris. I am  interested in  Chinese c
ulture and history and would like to learn more about the Hakka people f
rom your organisation. I have studied Mandarin for a number of years but 
now my interest is  not so specific and I would like to  get a broader p
icture. One question I  am interested in (for example) is what is the re
lationship between the Hakka language and  Mandarin. Is there a connecti
on?
	I'm afraid my curiousity in such matters makes me too much of a 
generalist to be a good scholar. Please forgive me for  parading my igno
rance of many things, however I know there is rather a lot to learn in j
ust one lifetime.
