In Taiwan, it has been many discussions on this issue. Finally, we all
agree the language is most important thing to Hakkas. Without language,
Hakka just likes a body that without blood.
How can we call Culture? wen-fa
wen is character, wording that could be written.
fa is language that could comunicate each other. Not a man who takes a
weapon and attacks/fights each other.
Culture without language that is a dead culture. It has to be preserved
in the musium. You want to see Hakkas culture at musium, don't you? Like
to see a mummy. Or to live and enjoy in the culture, singing, writing,
talking, painting and laughing.
Culture is the bone.
Character is the muscle.
Language is the blood.
Language can generate muscle, makes bone alive and strong, become a
modern culture of human being.
I do hope everybody could leaarn the language first, and then you will
enjoy and learn what is Hakka culture. I do not think if a Hakkas who
can not speak Hakka and will understand Hakka culture? Can you
understand Rusian culture or Arabian culture? Just know about it that is
very easy. If you want to enjoy it, just knowing will not be enough. We
are Hakka, we should enjoy it and able to enjoy into Hakka culture.
That's real what Hakka should be.
