Hakka County Chief Murdered in Taiwan

Liu Pang-you, Taoyuan County Chief of Taiwan, was shot at his residence
in the morning of Nov. 21 and died in the hospital soon after.  There
were six others killed and two County Coucilmen seriously wounded in
the mafia style execution.

Liu, 54 of age, was a Hakka from Chungli City of the same county.
He was one the three Hakka county chiefs among the twenty or so
local governments in Taiwan.  Taoyuan is an important county near
Taipei.  CKS Intl Airport is there and it has been very industrialized
in recent two decades.  I guess half of the population is Hakka.
Together with the two counties to its south, Hsinchu and Miaoli,
they are the major habitat of Taiwan Hakka.
