RE: HGN: Hakka origin, a biological genetic
In response to Mr. Chu's msg, I would like to remind all Hakka netters to
post at the Hakka forum so that the thread of discussion can be followed.
All you need to do is Cc to fhakka@mail.asiawind.com [fhakka is for
forum hakka, it is not a typo].
I think Mr. Chu has confused Minzu with nationality. If you follow the
other discussions in this maillist, many Hakka fellows in Singapore and
Malaysia have expressed that already. I am not going to reiterate here.
Let me just bring out one simple question here:
What are Hakkas trying to preserve ?
Following that is a whole set of questions :
* Why are we so adamant about Hakka language and custom?
* What do we see the future of our language and custom?
* Why are they important?
* What if Hakka language really dies off? What do we lose (or gain)?
* Why some of us view being Han as important and others don't think so?
* What is the ideal of Han? Hakka?
These are all very heavy questions and I believe all Hakkas should try to
answer them in their own thoughts. Let's express our thoughts freely.
Thanks.
SL Lee
