Hakka origin and principles

It is interesting that we got back to the origin of Hakka again after almost
a year. However this IS an enigmatic question we as Hakkas must ask and try
to answer. This is the only way we find our root and role, and project to 
the future.

One thing I do need to make very clear: No matter how heated our debate is,
the forum remains open to all points of view and we remain fellow Hakkas. 
Even though I have a say in running the website, I am writing to the forum on
a personal basis. Jonathan is the moderator of the forum. Unless there is
violation of the charter or the rules of the forum, everybody is entitled to
speak his/her mind. The entire site is created to promote understanding, not
misunderstanding. If we can focus on the viewpoint rather than on the person
(unless identification is necessary), our exchange would be progressive. 

To keep our discussion focused, I would suggest we only talk about Hakka 
in this forum. I have set up a Taiwan Strait forum if some Hakka netters 
like to discuss the relationship between mainland China and Taiwan. 
Another forum on Hong Kong 1997 should be of interest to people from Hong 
Kong as well as Taiwan.  We are still looking for a leader there.

The set up of these forums is to bring some topics of current concern to 
serious discussion here, away from the unruliness of the USENET.  Hope 
everybody joins in.

We are all fortunate to be living through some major turning points in 
history. It would be interesting to look back years later on all the 
discussions and see how we did.
