At the 3rd Annual Dinner of the Columbus Hakka Association
(Jan 16, 1998), I presented the following couplet:
海外作客,心存故國思源遠
俄中為家,手挽新知慶流長
As a "guest" overseas,
I remember the motherland and our remote origin,
Making our home in central Ohio,
I hold hands with new friends to celebrate our long heritage.
This was finally edited to be:
海外作客,心怀故國思源遠
天下為家,手挽新知繼流長
As a "guest" overseas, my mind is in
the motherland and our remote origin,
Making my home globally, I hold hands with new friends
to keep our heritage for generations to come.
Th calligrpahy was done on January 20, 1998.
