US imports about 10 million ( I do not remember teh units) from China, a big number for sure. The inspection agency has done only 1%. They claimed that the wheat gluten ussed only in pet foods. On the other hand, the Chinese said that it was not the cause. Until the facts are out, one must wonder about the import and export of ingredients in and out of each every country. The probability is getting higher and higher for intentional and unintentional violation of safety in production.
Have you ever visited a kitchen in any resturants? It is only lately in this city that the health inspection report can be accessed for the resturants. Apparently, the picture is not that pretty becasue of many have had records.
What I am trying to say is the you have be warned! By the way, eat fresh and less prepared food saves labor, energy, your pocket book and most important of this practice is that it is good for your health.
