I am not sure where this come from, either from Chinese or Indonesian but they said when somebody passed away, his/her soul will be near their family or closed friends for 40 days. Usually they came in dreams or sometimes you can smell like scent of flowers etc. I think they said they try to say something or finish something by sending you the messages in your dreams.
They also believe if somebody passed away and you know that and they try to ask you to follow them and if you said YES and you will die.
I am not sure about this things but I heard about it many times.
I am thinking only for the good things. If they send you a message they want to tell you but don't have a chance to say it when they were still alive then good, we know the messages.
Anyway, just take it like she try to reach you after years and she got you even when you found out she already passed away. So, be happy at least you got contact with her.
