Forgive me Mr. Lee.

In this matter I think Chinese are victims of their own Public Relations, and advertising. With the American divorce rate at 58 percent, many Americans are looking for answers. How do I find someone who is good enough for me, and will also accept me? Well, the Chinese P.R. folks have been telling us for sooo long that the Chinese family members are very loyal, considerate, polite, and gentle. A Chinese woman is like a magic ingredient for happiness. If you marry, and take good care of her, you will have a happy life, and home. Many Americans are shocked when a Chinese woman acts badly.

Other stereotypes that Americans have accepted about Chinese:

Always truthful. Will not steal. All Chinese are smart. All Chinese are wise.etc.

I was not looking for a Chinese girlfriend, but my first Chinese girlfriend found me. She was not perfect, but she had most of those qualities while still being a woman. She made me believe the stereotypes, but her father would not accept a mixed relationship.
She was the best thing to happen to me in a very long time.

So please don't be too hard on us who are heartbroken to find that Chinese are not perfect, and can be as bad as anyone else.
