"Getting there is half the fun", that's a common saying.
More and more, I feel that getting there is more than half of the fun, much more. Sometimes I begin to feel that it is all the fun.
Fun is in the anticipation. Anticipation, longing......hope, that is what makes one happy, the only thing other than pain, that makes me feel alive.
When you actually arrive, then what? Savor the moment? Well, it seems hard to enjoy the moment, when one has the nagging feeling that "the moment" will soon be gone, as surely as a bone-chilling breeze will soon take over from a breathtaking sunset.
When one arrives......it is all downhill from here.......
May be that's why I like travel so much. Travel, not in the sense of arriving at some "final" destination, but just hitting the road, rambling, going from town to town, without an ultimate destination. Then, when the time runs out, or simply when obligations at home are catching up with me, I turn around and go home.
