Life experiences that are easily proven to be transmitted from one life to another are most often of the survival type. <= it is one of the methods of evolution.
I would think that Genetics probably have something to do with it, maybe as a programable physical carrier or, maybe as something else such as a recieving device for energy or radio? frequencies.

Personaly I've had a few out of body experiences at different times in my life - mainly when meditating - I've been able to tell a few friends what they were doing - as well as was seen walking in the mountains about two years from when I left. I was homesick and would dream of being back home. My friends that saw me told me different stories except that all sightings were after 10 PM which was the time I would practice meditation.

Currently I am studying a form of meditation that allows me to remain very focused (not like sleep) during long periods of meditation as I am fairly certain that we can pick our next life. I mastered this form of meditation when I was 18 years old but as a few unexpected things happened, I quit practicing it untill I could learn more about the details. This focused meditation was also where I learned to controll my leaving my body.
