(The English Translation is by Julie Boon)

The moon is in where?
The moon is in which chamber?
It shines into my room,
It shines onto my bed.
Light up that broken battle field,
Light up my happy village.
When can you cuddle in my embrace,
I may as well tell you my sorrow.

The moon is in where?
The moon is in which chamber?
It shines into her room,

It shines onto her bed.
Light up my broken heart,
Light up my entire night of hesitation,
When can she cuddle in my embrace,
I may as well tell you my sorrow

The moon is in where?
The moon is in which chamber?
I see the moon's face,
I absorb the moon's light.
I turn towards the horizon with hope,
I face the horizon with yearning.
I, not insane can be excited,
In the end it's a man's world in heaven.

Hua Mulan

The story of Mulan was recorded in the selected works of Le Fu Shi Ji (樂
府詩集) by Guo Maoqian (郭茂倩) during the Song Dynasty (宋朝 960AD to 1279AD)
. It is believed that Mulan was born during the North and South Dynasties
(南北朝420AD to 589AD) either in the provinces of Henan (河南省) or Hebei
(河北省) or Gansu (甘肅省) or Anhui (安徽省). Actually, no one knows which
province was she born. However, the poetry of Mulan appeared in the literary
works of Gu Jiao Heng Chui Qu (鼓角橫吹曲) in the Kingdoms of Liang (梁代
502AD to 557AD) of the Southern Dynasty and also in Northern Wei (北魏 386AD
to 534AD) of Northern Dynasty.

It is also believed that Mulan's surname was Hua (花 flower). There are
also people believed that her surname was either Wei (魏) or Zhu (朱). However,
there are also scholars believed that Mulan was not a Han-Chinese and her
surname was Mulan (木蘭), a double character surname as during that time
the Northern Wei court embarked on a conscious policy of Sinicization.

The story of Mulan is that she disguised herself as a young man and went
to war. These are the two songs sang by Mulan while she was in the army.

She performed a sword dance alone at night and sang:

月亮在那裏
Where is the luminous moon

Where does her moon shine

Bright her countenance I follow

Bright her radiance I follow

Following her moonbeams until

They fall upon my room
--------------------------------------------

When the war was over Mulan returned home with her comrades.

Returning home triumphantly she sang:
(I could not find this song in youtube)

(1)
Blues skies, sunny day, all below he heavens

The village children laughing "Hee, hee"

Come, come, come, quickly come

Together we'll hunt and admire the flowers

(2)
Blues skies, sunny day, all below he heavens

Before me stands my home

Come, come, come, quickly come,

Together there, we'll sip some tea.

(3)
Blues skies, sunny day, all below he heavens

Quickly, finish our martial training

Come, come, come, quickly come,

Together we'll send the robbers to their doom,
