114. 秋登蘭山寄張五 Ascending Mount Lan(*1A) to send a message to Zhang
Wu in Autumn

北山白雲裏,---Bei3 shan bai2 yun2 li3,
隱者自相悅;---Yin3 zhe3 zi4 xiang yue4;
相望試登高,---Xiang wang4 shi4 deng gao,
心隨雁飛滅.---Xin sui2 yan4 fei mie4.

愁因薄暮起,---Chou2 yin bo2 mu4(*2B) qi3,
興是清秋發;---Xing shi4 qing qiu fa;
時見歸村人,---Shi2 jian4 gui cun ren2,
沙行渡頭歇.---Sha xing2 du4 tou2(*3C) xie.

天邊樹若薺,---Tian bian shu4 ruo4 ji4(*4D),
江畔洲如月;---Jiang pan4 zhou ru2 yue4;
何當載酒來,---He2 dang zai4 jiu4 lai2,
共醉重陽節.---Gong4 zui4 Zhongyang(*5E) jie2.

(01) 我登在蘭山上, 看見北山矗立在白雲裏,
I ascended to Mount Lan and saw the northern side of the mountain standing
tall and upright among the white clouds,
(02) 那邊正住著你這位隱居的人, 在自由自在地快樂;
At this side of the mountain you lived happily and peacefully.
(03) 我因為要望著你, 所以登高遠遠地眺望,
Wanting to see you I, therefore, ascended to the mountain to look into the
distance from a high place.
(04) 想望你的心意, 卻隨雁兒飛了過去, 直到隱沒在看不見的地方.
Thinking of you my heart followed the wild geese and flew to your secluded
place.

(05) 傍晚的時候, 很容易引起人們的愁思,
Toward evening, it could easily lure people into sadness.
(06) 遊玩的興致, 卻是在初秋發動的.
The best time to go for a tour was in the early autumn.
(07) 在這裏, 時常可以看見回到村裏的人,
From here I could often see the villagers returning home.
(08) 從沙灘上行走著, 到了擺渡的地方, 就停止了腳步休息一下.
From the sandy beach they walked to the jetty and rested for a while.

(09) 在蘭山上遠望天邊的樹木, 都渺小得很好像薺菜一樣;
Looking at the horizon from Mount Lan I could see the trees were like the
small vegetables.
(10) 江邊的沙洲, 也渺小的好像一個月亮.
The sand bar on the river bank was like a little tiny moon.
(11) 我和你不知在什麼時候, 可以載了酒來,
I did not know when you and I were going to bring our wine here to drink,
(12) 共賞這重陽佳節呢?
And to celebrate together the Festival of Chongyang.

(*1A) 蘭山
就是石門山﹐在慶符縣治南﹐下瞰門﹐因其山多蘭﹐故名。按慶符縣在四川省。

(*2B) 薄暮
就是傍晚的時候。

(*3C) 渡頭
俗言擺渡口。

(*4D) 若齋
野菜。樹小若野菜﹐極言其遠。

(*5E) 重陽
節名。為九月九日﹐因日月都值陽數﹐遂稱重陽。
