李白詩 A poem by Li Bai (&01AD to 762AD)

009. 謝公亭 (*1A) The pavilion of Xie Gong

謝公離別處,---Xie Gong li2 bie2 chu3(*2B),
風景每生愁.---Feng jing3 mei3 sheng chou2.
客散青天月,---Ke4 san4 qing tian yue4,
山空碧水流.---Shan kong bi4 shui3 liu2..

池花春映月,---Chi2 hua chun ying4 yue4,
窗竹夜鳴秋.---Chuang zhu2 ye4 ming2 qiu.
今古一相接,---Jin gu3 yi xiang jie,
長歌懷舊遊.---Chang2 ge huai2 jiu4 you2.

The explanations in plain Chinese and English.

(1) 這座亭子, 是當年謝公與友人范雲[*3C] 離別的地方,
This pavilion was the place where Xie Gong [2B] bade farewell to his friend
Fan Yun , a long time ago.
(2) 所以, 對著眼前的景色, 往往讓人不由得生出愁緒來.
In retrospect, it rekindles people of the gloomy mood in the past.
(3) 我想當時, 謝公送走了朋友之後, 只餘下一輪明月孤寂地垂掛在晴天上.
I think, at that time, after Xie Gong had sent off his friend, there was
nobody in the pavilion but a lonely moon up in the blue sky.
(4) 而山間也一片空曠, 只有溪澗中的碧水仍不停的奔流著.
There was also nothing in the mountain but the blue water running endlessly
in the mountain stream.

(5) 如今, 我來到這裡, 白天, 陽光映照著池塘中的花兒, 洋溢著一片春色.
Now I am back here. During the day, I can see the lotus flowers brimming
with spring scenery in the pond by the reflection of the sun.
(6) 到了夜晚, 窗前的竹林隨風搖曳, 沙沙作響, 竟然生出一片淒淒的秋意.
At night, the bamboo grove in front of the window rustled in the wind, as
if it is in autumn.
(7) 古人已去, 今人來遊, 在這裡, 彷彿今人古人籍著這片遺跡, 也能彼此作一個
接觸.
The ancients were gone and the contemporaries are here to tour the place
and it is as if the ancients are meeting the contemporaries.
(8) 想到這裡, 我不襟無限感慨的高聲吟詠著詩歌, 懷念起前人的遊蹤來.
Thinking about them I can't help starting to recite poems and sing songs
loudly to cherish the memory of the ancients.

Notes:
(*1A) 謝公亭 Xie Gong Ting
This pavilion is in the north of the city of Xuancheng (宣城) in Anhui province
(安徽省). It was built in honour of Xie Tiao (謝朓), the Magistrate of Xuancheng
city during the Kingdom of Nan Qi (南齊479AD to 501AD) during the North
and South Dynasties (南北朝 420AD to 589AD).The author wrote this poem when
he was visiting this pavilion.

(*2B) Xie Gong (謝公) = was the famous poet cum magistrate of Xuancheng.
His real name was Xie Tiao (謝朓) who lived during the Kingdom of Nan Qi
(南齊 see [1A]).

Fan Yun (范雲) was a friend of Xie Tiao.
