夜泊牛渚 [*1A] 懷古 (Reflection of the ancient at Niuzhu at night)
牛渚西江夜,---Niuzhu Xi Jiang [*2B] ye4,
青天無片雲;---Qing tian wu2 pian yun2;
登舟望秋月,---Deng zhou wang4 qiu yue4,
空憶謝將軍.---Kong4 yi4 Xie Jiang Jun [*3C].
余亦能高詠,---Yu2 yi4 neng2 gao yong3,
斯人不可聞.---Si ren2 bu4 ke3 wen2.
明朝挂帆去,---Ming2 zhao gua3 fan qu4,
楓葉落紛紛.---Feng ye4 luo4 fen fen [*4D].

The explanations in plain Chinese and English.
(1) 在牛渚地方西江的夜裏,
Tonight I am in Niuzhu island in the Yangtze River,
(2) 抬頭看看天上, 只見青青的天沒有半片的浮雲;
I look at the sky and it is a clear cloudless night;
(3) 我走到船裏望著秋天的月亮,
I then board the boat and gaze at the autumn moon,
(4) 憑空地想著從前風流儒雅的謝將軍.
My memories of General Xie comes back to my mind.
(5) 我也有吟詩的本領,
I too have some skill in reciting poetry,
(6) 可惜相謝將軍樣的人, 現在沒有所聞了.
As far as I know I have never heard of someone who is like General Xie;
(7) 明天我掛著風帆把船駛去,
The next morning I set sail
(8) 只有岸上楓葉紛紛的落下來.
There are only maples leaves dropping on the banks of the river.
