唐詩 A Tang poem by Zhang Jiuling (張九齡 678AD to 740AD)
感遇 Gan3 Yu4 (The feeling of encountering) - (C)
幽人歸獨臥,---You ren2 gui du2 wo4,
滯慮洗孤清;---Zhi4 lu4 [*1A] xi gu qing;
特此謝高鳥,---Te4 ci3 xie4 gao niao3 [*2B],
因之傳遠情.---Yin zhi chuan2 yuan3 qing2.
日夕懷空意,---Ri4 xi huai2 kong yi4,
人誰感至精?--Ren2 shui2 gan3 zhi4 jing?
飛沉理自隔,---Fei chen2 [*3C] li3 zi4 ge2,
何所慰吾誠?--He2 suo3 wei4 wu2 cheng2?

(1) 幽靜的人, 歸到林下獨自高臥著,
I am like a secluded man who returns to the forest and sleeps under a tree,
(2) 把胸中積滯的憂慮, 洗除乾淨,
I forget all my worries in my mind,
(3) 便成為一個清高的隱士; 現在我拿這意思來答謝高飛的鳥兒,
By doing so, I becomes a hermit, who is aloof from material pursuits, like
a bird flying up in the sky.
(4) 並且托牠傳達我遙遠的情懷.
Besides, I will ask the bird to convey my feelings from a distance to the
ruler.
(5) 我日夜裏有著這樣的空想,
Everyday I am having this emptiness of thinking.
(6) 可是誰能夠被我的精誠所感動呢,
Who will understand the sincerity of my feelings
(7) 原來居高位的人和隱居的人, 在道理上來說, 根本是相隔很遠的.
In reality, there is a vast different between a man in high position and
someone who is a hermit.
事實既然這樣, 那末怎能安慰我一片忠誠的意思呢?
(8) If it is the case then who will comfort me for my idea of being loyal
to the ruler.

滯慮 (zhi4 lu4) means anxiety or worry.
[*2B]
高鳥 (gao niao3) means to compare people in high position
[*3C]
飛沉 (fei chen2) means go up or ascend and fall or drop.
[作法]
前四句是寫己的歸隱自高﹐
後四句是寫歸隱後仍惓惓思君。
