Please note that Qing Ming festival(Ching Ming or Clear and bright) is always on April the 5th in the Solar calendar unless there is a leap year. For example there is a 29 February in 2004 that means there will be an extra day in 2004 or 366 days. Therefore Qing Ming will not be on April 5, 2004 but April 4 2004.

There will be two (2) second Moon in 2004.
The first fisrt day of 2nd Moon is on February 20, 2004. The second, first day of 2nd Moon will be on Mrach 21, 2004.

Therefore the Chinese New Year will be back to February 18 2005.

The Chinese Calender is a root source for many points within China's culture including Medicine, Marriage, Buisness ventures, Fortune telling and so many more that I've not found a single source that has all the information so- I include this URL.

An overlaping Solar Calender which has some information that CHUNG Yoon-Ngan did not include - but has left out some of the information that CHUNG Yoon-Ngan did include can be found at:
http://www.friesian.com/chinacal.htm#length

Some more Trivia that I've found is: The ::
冬至 Dong zhi or Winter Solstice on December 21st:: is also the day of the Golden Lotus Blooming (Taoist literature reference: The Secret Of the Golden Flower) - which is the day of the old ending and new beginnings - In some Taoist literature, this date is known as the emergance of the spirit child of meditation - whereas immortality is found.
I often walk the mountain path that leads by the Temple of 10,000 Buddhas in Sha Tin where I have noticed they have a special pond where the Golden Lotus is kept - I've only seen it bloom on the Winter Soltice.
--Personaly I think this has too many simularities to the emergance of the Jesus (christ child) in Christianity to ignore.

Another point is the Cherokee Indian Moon Calendar (brought to my attention by a Taoist friend) that has many of the simularities of the Chinese Lunar Calendar - http://www.powersource.com/cocinc/ceremony/moons.htm - Although - It would also stand to reason that cultures based on nature have many simularities - the American Indians carry the same genetic codes as Chinese, their writing system is VERY closely related - and it is documented by anthropological evidence that they came from Asia - over 15,000 years ago - So- This raises the Question of when did these traditions of Nature, Writing, and the Calendar begin ?????????

The American Indians definitely share many cultural aspects with Chinese. There was a discussion at Professor Pei's message board. The Olmecs had a writing that is not only similar to Chinese archaic writings. It is readable! The Aztec folklore has a rabbit in the moon, just like the Chinese folklore. This folklore must be at least 2500 year old. The Indian flute and their musical scale is the same as Chinese. The Inuits use knots on strings as memo, just like what Cangjie invented prior to writing. Cangjie is a legendrary figure of unknown time period. So it has to be more than 4000 years ago.

Qing Ming Festival (清 明 節)

清明時節雨紛紛, =Qing Ming shi jie yu fen fen,
路上行人欲斷魂. =Lu shang xing ren yu duan hun,
借問酒家何處有?=Jie wen jiu jia he chu you?
牧童遙指杏花村. Mu tong yao zhi xing hua cun.

Qing Ming Festival is the day when the livings go to their ancestors'
graves to pray and sweep the graves clean. Qing Ming occurs every year
105 days after winter solstice (冬至). This is the story of the origin of Qing Ming.

See chapter 27 in my book "The Origin of the Hakka Chinese"
prefaced by SL Lee.
